Following the monumental and eagerly awaited revival of the legendary Brora distillery, Dr Patrick Brossard announces the release of the critically updated of the seminal work, “Brora: A Legendary Distillery and Whisky."

This new edition is not merely a reprint; it is the complete and final chapter in the Brora story up to the production of its first whisky in the resurrected distillery. It comprehensively documents the distillery's meticulous reconstruction, bringing the narrative full circle from its silent stills to its triumphant return. Furthermore, this edition features new research that clarifies and expands upon the distillery's complex early evolution between 1865 and 1895, a period pivotal to its identity.

Nine years ago, people praised Patrick Brossard’s book as the definitive history of the iconic Highland distillery. This updated volume builds on that foundation, offering readers:

·       The Full Saga: From its 19th-century origins as Clynelish to its years producing highly prized peated spirit, its closure in 1983, and its mythologised status among collectors.

·       The Revival: An exclusive, detailed look at the ambitious reconstruction project by Diageo, capturing the craftsmanship and dedication required to resurrect a ghost.

·       New Historical Discoveries: Meticulously researched details and plans that redefine our understanding of the distillery's formative years between 1865 and 1895.

·       A Visual Journey: Archival photographs contrasted with new images of the stunningly restored distillery.

"The story of Brora did not end in 1983; it was simply paused and revived from its ashes, like a phoenix, unexpectedly," says Dr. Patrick Brossard" With its rebirth, the history needed to be completed. This new edition integrates those lost decades of silence with the exciting modern-day resurrection, while also deepening the roots of the story with new findings from its earliest days. It’s the definitive account for a new generation of whisky lovers and historians."

This book is an essential read for whisky connoisseurs, historians, and anyone captivated by the revival of a lost piece of Scottish industrial heritage.
