Den Haag/La Haye, The Netherlands, September 2, 2007

Van Zuylen/ www.whisky-distilleries.info whisky event

Presentation:

A private tasting was organized in the Netherlands, on Saturday the 2nd of September  2007 in Den Haag by Jean-Marie Putz (www.whisky-distilleries.info) and the famous Dutch whisky retailer, Van Zuylen (www.whiskyvanzuylen.nl). This tasting event was dedicated to the independent bottlers (Adelphi, Berry Bros and Rudd, Daily Dram, Dewar Rattray, Duncan Taylor First Cask, Gordon & MacPhail, James MacArthur's, Douglas Laing, Scott's Selection, and Single Malts of Scotland), with the bottles kindly provided by their importers, Bresser & Timmer,Whisky Import Nederland and Van Wees (Whiskyworkd). The participants were all whisky connoisseurs from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, and Switzerland.

During this event, an amazing number of very good whiskies were available for tasting, including the ones from a new Dutch independent bottler: First Cask.

The venue: Abdijkerk, the oldest church in den Haag.

During the event, over 40 single malt and grain whiskies were available for tasting and I managed to taste most of them.

General impression and conclusion:

This whisky event was extremely pleasant, with Mr Jean-Marie Putz and Mr Van Zuylen dedicating all their attention to the participants of the event. It was one of the best whisky events which I have attended so far, extremely well organized and the limited number of participants allowed a good contact and discussion with the different whisky distributors, as well as to enjoy the whiskies in a very comfortable condition. The selection of whiskies was very extensive, diverse, and of very good quality.

Hopefully, this will not be the last one! I also want to thank all the distributors for their courtesy and their availability.

Thank you all for the event and see you next year
